Announcing JSR 310 - Java Date and Time API

Stephen Colebourne, the guy behind JodaTime, writes in his Weblog that JSR 310 has been opened with the goal of improving the date & time support in Java.

“Obviously, this whole JSR will be influenced by Joda-Time, the open source library that I’ve been working on for the last few years. However, the JSR will not be a simple adoption of Joda-Time. For a start the Java 5 language features make a difference. And there are probably a few rough edges that can be smoothed out too.”

There’s a discussion going on at JavaLobby as well.
